TEHRAN (IQNA) – Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance said translations of the Quran in English and French will be broadcast on state-run TV channels during the holy month of Ramadan.

Abdullatif Al-Sheikh said they will be broadcast simultaneously with the recitation of the Quran by the prayer leaders of the Grand Mosque in Mecca and Prophet’s Mosque in Medina, OKaz daily reported.

The two imams will recite verses from the Quran during Taraweeh prayers on the nights of Ramadan.

A number of Arab and Islamic satellite TV channels and several internet websites will also participate in broadcasting the recitations along with the translations, he noted.

Al-Sheikh said it will allow people around the world, including those in Europe, Africa and Asia who do not know Arabic to benefit from the sublime messages of the Holy Quran and Islam, which include love, peace, tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

Ramadan, the lunar Hijri month in which Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, will begin later this week.
